The Witch and Wizard by James Patterson

I have recently read The Witch and Wizard by James Patterson. All I can say is that it is an amazing book that you just don’t want to put down, there is something different and interesting on every page.

What would happen if everything in life was normal, except for the fact that your girlfriend has disappeared, until one night you go to bed and get woken to soldiers being in your home taking you from your parents accusing you and your bother of being a witch and wizard? Well that is what happens to Wisty (Wisteria Allgood) and her brother Whit (Whitford Allgood). They were rudely awoken by the New Order (N.O.) soldiers, ripped from their parents and jailed, accused of being witch and wizard. They were each allowed to bring one item with them so their parents gave Wisty an old drum stick and Whit a diary that had never been used, but why those two items?

The New Order took over the world taking children from their families throwing them away in jail, killing them or turning them into their puppet soldiers. It happened to a school mate and enemy of Whit and Wisty named Byron Swain who was also at their home the night they were accused and called dangerous. You also find out that Celia Whit’s girlfriend was murdered also being accused but comes to Whit as a ghost to help them out.

Come to find out Wisty and Whit are witch and wizard. Random things appear in the blank diary given to Whit and Wisty starts to glow and float in her sleep. There is nothing like going from being a normal family to being jailed and finding out you are a witch or wizard and can do amazing things but they mostly happen on accident, like turning Byron Swain into the weasel he acts like. Or being able to escape and finding Garfunkel’s store has become home to all the kids that got away and are trying to save the rest running from the One who is the One and his New Order soldiers.

Do they find their parents and are they alive? How many children do they help and just how powerful do their powers get? You will just have to read the book to find out! I'm off to start the second book, The Gift, and see how much trouble brother and sister can get into.

Compulsion Book Excerpt

Compulsion by Kymberlee Burks-Miller is due to be re-released on January 3rd of 2012. What a great way to start out the new year. The book, which has an amazing storyline, has a new cover and is currently being published with Mystic Press. This book is a must have for all fans of the paranormal, vampires, witches or all three! Here is a preview of Compulsion.

November 10, 1982
Lochlan and Leigh Ann came over last night and told me that they are expecting!  I felt that child’s power already!  She is going to fulfill the prophecies foretold about the Moon Coven!  After they left M came upstairs and told me more about the meaning of his ring.  It is quite exquisite, it has an Onyx stone, with a golden phoenix outstretched, an eye and the letter M in the top corner.  The onyx is amazing as it represents strength, the stone used to be a ruby M told me.  But after he turned his back on his nature of hunting humans the stone turned to onyx!  Remarkable.  The phoenix outstretched symbolizes M’s rebirth.  The eye stands for the all seeing eye used by the Freemasons.  And the M is obviously for M, himself.  He has gotten so much stronger and is helping me a great deal in hunting vampires.  I didn’t know if he would truly be able to kill one of his own kind, but he did.  Many times over!  He and I are going out tomorrow in hopes of following up on a lead!  Blessed Be~Leeny
I finished reading.  What prophecies?  In 1982, mom got pregnant with me.  Oh lovely, as if I don’t have enough on my plate!  I’ll have to put that on the back burner for right now.  Something wasn’t sitting right with me about this vampire.  “Hey guys, I couldn’t find the spell.  But look at this Lily.  I found out about the vampires!”  Seamus handed me the Book and Ciaran came over sitting next to us.   We read where Seamus pointed.
Vampires
The vampires have been roaming our earth for many moons.  They feast on the blood of humans, but they prefer witch blood.  These beasts have been taking the blood of all the Covens, but we have a remedy to their attacks.  There are only four types of wood that will pierce the heart of this creature, Ash, Pine, Oak and Rowan.  The spears must be sharpened and blessed.  Raise the spear above your head and call to the Goddess.  “Goddess come to your daughter and bless this wood with your power!”  You WILL feel the favor of our Goddess.
Now, how to identify these foul creatures.  They are incredibly fast, unfathomably strong and their greatest gifts aside from their fangs are their eyes!  They are as red as the blood they crave with a golden ring around the edges.  They use these eyes to compel their victim.  They simply tell their victims what to do and they do it.  Fortunately we as witches have a slight defense against this IF we are aware.  If we throw our power of the elements at them, it can distract them long enough to stake them.  Something else that all Moon Witches must be aware of, there are good vampires!  They only want to help rid the world of these abominations, you will recognize them by their eyes.  They are a shade of green only seen on the Emerald Isle, herself!  These eyes are ringed in gold.  When the wards are in place they are the ONLY vampires that can cross them.  Blessed Be to all the daughters and sons of the Moons.

See how captivating the writing is! I could not put this book down. Stay tuned for my review of Compulsion. Be sure to follow the author, Kymberlee Burks-Miller at:
